Los Angeles Area to the Eastside:

This route is only available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday all year long.  The limiting factor is step 5, the Eastern Sierra Transit bus.  Be wary of Holidays, it’s probably better to call ahead.

To get to the Eastern Sierra from Los Angeles is quite a trip, but it really does work out.  Bear with the system and maybe it’ll get more efficient with time and more usage.  Our trip description starts from Union Station on any Monday, Wednesday or Friday at 6:30 am.  If you are flying in, you’ll need to arrive a day or two ahead.  Talk to your hotel about transit from the airport and to Union Station. 

 

Step 1:  Get to Union Station before 6:30 am on your departure date.  Buy a ticket for the Antelope Valley Line to its end at Lancaster.  It will cost $10.50. www.metrolinktrains.com (800) 371-LINK(5465)

 

Step 2: Take the Antelope Valley Line of the Metrolink Train from Union Station at 6:35am to Lancaster at 8:30 am.

 

Step 3: Lancaster Metrolink 10:28- Mojave Carls Jr at 11:15. $2 and you pay the driver.  For more information call 1 800 560 1733.

 

Step 4:  Catch the bus from Carls Jr. in Mojave to City Hall in Ridgecrest at 11:25. $4 and you pay the driver. For more information call 1 800 560 1733.

 

Step 5:  You’ll get on the Eastern Sierra Transit Authority bus at the Ridgecrest City Hall at 1:30 pm.   Arrival times and rates for various end-points are below:

  • 201 S. Warren St. in Bishop 3:50 pm $20
  • Tom’s Place 4:30 pm $22.50

Totals LA to the Eastside:  9-11 hours and $32-$47 depending on where you finish your trip.
