Guided Trips to the Sierra Nevada & Worldwide!
Learn the skills you need to camp in the winter.

Snow Camping and Winter Skills

Camping in the winter is a beautiful experience! There is no silence like the silence and serenity of winter camping. And there is no sound like the sound of a light snow hitting your tent as you drift off to sleep in your warm sleeping bag. Finally there is no comfort like returning to your cozy cocoon after having to get up to go to the bathroom! This course is a great introduction to winter outings. This course allows the new winter enthusiast a safe and comfortable trip during the snow season. Among a host of other things, your guide will teach you some winter navigation skills (there aren't trails in the winter you know!), how to build a snow shelter, what to eat in the winter, and (most importantly) how to stay warm and dry! On this two-day course, any method of travel is acceptable; touring skis or snowshoes. If you are new to the winter game, these skills are a must!

I'm hoping this will be passed along to those in charge of your organization so that they will know what an excellent time we had and more importantly how thoroughly professional and accommodating our guides Annie and Jed were. These two great people were knowledgeable, pleasant, caring, upbeat, inspiring and genuinely caring to us and our scouts during our entire stay. Nothing ruffled them, even in the face of leading a group of wilderness amateurs out in the rugged field.
