Hello Ice Climbers,
I wanted to update everyone on the hiking conditions and the routes. Hike in is packed down- I have been walking in with crampons which helps with the firm snow in the mornings and I have been hiking back down in
them as well. You can get away with just walking in, but its been nice having a little extra security. Micro spikes could be a good option too.
Main Wall- I climbed the Center Flow yesterday. It was thin starting directly up, but I was able to get a stubby in. Chains are clear of ice to use. It was wet on the route.
Cave Man area looks good but still thin.
Heel-Toe: there was one party on there! Looked like a fun adventure. The bottom not ice until it chokes down with thin layer into a nice fat ice at the top.
Comrads Corner- Is very thin and delaminating at the bottom. I did top rope it which was super tick tacky and fun, but prob give it time to heal up with another storm to lead it, or you can go slight right and work your way back up left into the climb, which would be a nice thoughtful lead.
Tree Route- In great shape, actually feels steeper than the other climbs
All other flows on the wall are in great shape and climbing super well. It has been hot late afternoons making the ice melt and drip.
Larry and the climbs to the right are in good shape too.
It has been super mellow and not too busy out there!
