Our most popular ski course is our first one in the series. This course will have you quickly making the transition from ski resort addict to backcountry junkie. We offer this course daily with a 2 person minimum and with 24 hours advance booking.
Skiing without lift tickets, lift lines, parking woes, crowded cafeterias, and tracked out slopes.

Here it is, the beginning of the end of life as you know it. Imagine a whole new life. One of skiing without lift tickets, lift lines, parking woes, crowded cafeterias, and tracked out slopes. With your new found skills you will be able to travel in the mountains on skis equipped with modern ski touring gear that allows you to climb up steep snow slopes with ease yet still ski down with excellent downhill performance. Our backcountry ski instructors will help you figure out the nuances of the specialized equipment we use to access the goods.
We offer this full day program in the Mammoth Lakes and June Mountain Areas 7 days per week with 24 hour advance booking.
Full day of instruction, and includes use of pack, beacon, shovel, and probe.

Our partner store Sage to Summit has alpine touring skis available to rent. You can also rent alpine touring and telemark ski equipment in town at various retailers. Splitboarders are welcome to participate on this course but should also check out our Splitboard 101 course which is more specific to their gear. We recommend Mammoth Mountaineering for splitboard rentals. We do not ever recommend snowshoes for this course.
