Lone Pine Peak (12,944 ft.)
North Ridge – III, 5.7
Don’t let the easier rating fool you. This is a long climb with 5,000 feet of vertical gain and a 1/2 mile of enjoyable ridge climbing. The incredible views of the Mt. Whitney area and the Owens Valley are mind blowing. This adventurous climb can be done in 3 common styles: 1) 2 days with an ultralight bivouac on the ridge – in early season when there is still snow for melting, 2) 2 days with a bivouac at the start of the climb, blasting the entire climb and out in one big day, or 3) one giant car to car alpine push in a day. Any way you go for it, the North Ridge of Lone Pine Peak is a fantastic introduction to the world of light and fast. A great alpine training climb or climbing goal to aspire to.
For more interesting ways to climb the peak, we can guide you on the Northeast Ridge, Bastille Buttress, and routes on the enormous South Face on a custom private basis. Contact us anytime to discuss details.
