Winter Mountaineering Skills Seminar
This five-day intensive skills seminar is based in the Eastern Sierra.
This five-day intensive skills seminar is based in the Eastern Sierra. We use waterfall ice in Lee Vining Canyon and the mountains of the Eastern Sierra as an ideal training ground for working the progression from the basic skills to real mountaineering applications.
This course on scheduled dates has a minimum of 2 to run and a maximum guiding ratio of 3:1. We can arrange this program or similar on a custom basis.
Winter 2024 Dates:
– February 22-26
– March 21-25
We’ll practice glacier travel systems and crevasse rescue, whiteout navigation, snow shelters, and discuss clothing, gear options and avalanche transceivers. We finish our week with a two-day, one-night ascent of a high peak.
